Job summary

Intellias is seeking a skilled Scala Engineer to join a long-term project for a Fortune 100 industrial manufacturer. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and cloud-native data products used by dealers, enterprise customers, and internal business units globally.

You will work on event-driven architectures, microservices, and high-availability APIs, applying modern FP techniques with Cats, ZIO, Akka and AWS. Collaborative, growth-minded professionals are welcome.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial Scala experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with Akka or Apache Pekko.
• AWS experience.
• Kafka, Kinesis or other messaging platforms.
• Functional programming (Cats, Cats Effect, ZIO).
• PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Docker and CI/CD.
• Microservices and distributed systems.
• Strong architecture and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Scala
• Build event-driven services, integrations, and distributed system components
• Develop highly available APIs and cloud-native backend solutions
• Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root-cause analysis
• Ensure software quality through testing, code reviews, and best practices
• Mentor team members and contribute to technical excellence
• Own services throughout their entire lifecycle
