We are seeking a Senior SAP DRC and E-Invoicing Functional Consultant to support a global, multi-country SAP S/4HANA environment.
The consultant will provide senior functional ownership for SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, country-specific e-invoicing solutions, regulatory changes and operational support. Acting as the link between Finance, Tax, business users and technical teams, the consultant will investigate complex issues, assess cross-country impacts and ensure that solutions are thoroughly tested and ready for ongoing support. This role requires hands‑on experience with European e‑invoicing requirements and productive SAP DRC or eDocument solutions in at least two European countries.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Support and Incident Resolution
- Provide Level 2 functional support for SAP DRC and e-invoicing services.
- Investigate SAP DRC cockpit errors, eDocument statuses, application logs, validation failures and configuration issues.
- Analyse end-to-end invoice processes, including billing, electronic document generation, transmission, response processing, corrections and cancellations.
- Identify whether issues relate to SAP configuration, master data, integration, connectivity or an external platform.
- Document root causes, workarounds and permanent resolution recommendations.
- Coordinate escalations with SAP, AMS teams, integration specialists and external e-invoicing providers.
Regulatory and Country Readiness
- Translate approved country-specific requirements into SAP solution impacts, configuration changes, mappings, controls and test scenarios.
- Work with Tax and local compliance stakeholders to support evolving e-invoicing and e-reporting requirements.
- Support the onboarding of new countries and changes to existing country solutions.
- Ensure clear readiness, documentation and handover criteria are in place before go‑live or transition to operational support.
Change Release and Testing
- Conduct cross‑country impact assessments for SAP Notes, configuration changes and solution updates.
- Define unit, integration, regression and user acceptance testing scenarios.
- Ensure testing covers standard invoices, credit and debit memos, cancellations, corrections, reprocessing and exception scenarios.
- Support releases, go‑live activities, hypercare and transition into business‑as‑usual support.
- Identify risks to shared SAP DRC components and recommend appropriate regression coverage.
Governance Documentation and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain functional design documents, configuration records, country runbooks, support procedures and troubleshooting guides.
- Create clear functional specifications for mappings, interfaces, validations, forms and enhancements.
- Support incident, problem and change‑management processes.
- Contribute to service reviews and preventive improvement initiatives.
- Promote knowledge sharing through joint analysis, coaching, documentation and structured handovers.
- Help establish clear ownership across business users, Key Users, Finance, Tax, AMS teams and external vendors.
Required Experience and Skills
- At least five years of experience in relevant SAP functional consulting roles.
- At least two years of hands‑on SAP DRC or SAP eDocument Framework experience.
- Hands‑on experience configuring, troubleshooting and supporting SAP DRC or eDocument solutions in a live production environment.
- Demonstrable experience with European e‑invoicing requirements and productive solutions across at least two European countries.
- Strong operational experience with SAP S/4HANA.
- Strong SAP FI knowledge, including accounting documents, tax‑relevant fields, credit and debit memos and posting impacts.
- Strong SAP SD Billing knowledge, including billing types, outputs, cancellations, corrections, pricing and customer‑data dependencies.
- Understanding of FI, SD, MM and master‑data integration points affecting electronic documents.
- Experience with at least one e‑invoicing authority, network or continuous transaction control model.
- Experience working within incident, problem and change‑management processes.
- Professional fluency in English.
Experience gained exclusively with e-invoicing solutions outside the EU will not meet the European experience requirement for this position.
Technical and Integration Knowledge
- Practical understanding of SAP BTP, SAP Cloud Connector and SAP Integration Suite or CPI.
- Ability to interpret XML payloads, schemas, mappings, validation results, acknowledgements and response statuses.
- Understanding of APIs, certificates, authentication, communication channels and external authority connectivity.
- Familiarity with Peppol concepts, participant routing and access‑point interactions.
- Ability to collaborate with ABAP developers on BAdIs, enhancements, forms, mappings and debugging.
- Experience analysing SAP Notes, product corrections and their possible impact on existing country solutions.
Preferred Experience
- Multi‑country European SAP DRC rollout and production‑support experience.
- Experience supporting different European regulatory and e‑invoicing models.
- SAP S/4HANA transformation and post‑go‑live support experience.
- Experience with Peppol and country‑specific continuous transaction control platforms.
- Familiarity with Xurrent or a comparable enterprise IT service‑management platform.
