Job summary

Hitachi Energy Poland SP. z o.o. is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer to lead the development of next-generation transformers and contribute to energy transition projects.

You will guide technical work packages from concept to testing and product launch, ensuring designs meet stringent requirements and market needs. You will collaborate with global teams, apply advanced electromagnetic design and simulations, support manufacturing, and drive innovation while mentoring engineers and shaping

Qualifications

• Several years of transformer design and product development experience in an industrial setting.
• Strong background in transformer design, insulation systems, thermal performance and testing.
• Experience leading technical activities in cross-functional and international environments.
• Experience with Medium Frequency Transformers is a plus
• Experience with transformer transient analysis, modelling and simulation is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; good English communication

The Opportunity:

Join our global R&D team and help shape the Next Generation Grids Transformers technology. As a Senior R&D Engineer, you will lead technical development activities, solve complex engineering challenges, and contribute to innovative products and solutions that support the energy transition. You'll be part of a collaborative global team, contributing to the full R&D lifecycle-from concept to testing and product launch, ensuring that our solutions fulfill challenging technical requirements and new market demands.

How you'll make an impact:

• Lead technical work packages and key development activities within global R&D projects
• Propose innovative concepts and perform advanced simulations in electromagnetic design and optimization of distribution, BESS and medium frequency transformers
• Organize prototyping and testing activities to validate new technologies/products by interacting with engineering and manufacturing departments globally.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps, innovation initiatives, and continuous product improvement.
• Collaborate in global team settings, sharing your technical expertise to support colleagues in achieving timely and high-quality results.
• Lead intellectual property and risk management activities in R&D
• Provide technical support to factories, customers and sales teams.

Your Background:

• MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field
• Several years of experience in transformer design and product development within an industrial business environment
• Strong technical background in transformer design, insulation systems (air, solid, liquid), thermal performance and cooling, FEM simulation, and testing.
• Proven ability to lead technical activities and deliver results in cross-functional and international environments.
• Experience with design of Medium Frequency Transformers is a plus
• Experience with transformer transient analysis, modelling and simulation is a plus
• Strong analytical, communication (in English), and problem-solving skills.
