Job summary

Fliff is seeking a Senior Python Engineer to join the DataFeed Team, building the core systems behind the sports data platform. You will design Python services for data ingestion, transformation, and distribution, closely integrating with providers and handling edge cases across events, markets, and odds.

You’ll work on near real-time and batch pipelines, improve validation and monitoring, and collaborate with multiple squads. A senior ownership mindset and strong problem-solving are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production Python experience.
• Experience designing and operating backend services in production.
• Solid Django experience with asyncio.
• Production experience with Apache Kafka.
• Strong SQL skills and PostgreSQL experience.
• Experience integrating with external APIs and data feeds.
• Ability to reason about data correctness, edge cases and failure modes.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and debugging production systems.
• Senior ownership mindset: break down ambiguous problems and communicate clearly.
• Strong problem-solving and code review skills; willingness to on-call.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Python services for data ingestion, transformation, and distribution.
• Integrate with third-party data providers and handle format differences.
• Build reliable pipelines for near real-time and batch processing.
• Improve data validation, reconciliation, monitoring, alerting, and replay tooling.
• Work on domain models for events, markets, odds, and related sports entities.
• Investigate production issues and improve observability.
• Collaborate with backend, product, trading, QA, and platform teams.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, and mentoring.
