Job summary

payabl. is expanding its engineering capabilities and seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to design and implement scalable Python microservices in a distributed architecture.

The role is remote from Poland with contractor arrangements and reports to the Group CTO. You will build high‑performance backend systems, integrate third‑party APIs, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to optimize performance and scalability using AWS, Docker, and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Strong Python expertise and microservices background.
• Experience with FastAPI or Django.
• Experience with AWS services (e.g., Lambda).
• Docker/containerization experience.
• CI/CD pipelines experience (GitLab preferred).
• Understanding of distributed systems and high-load environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable Python microservices in a distributed architecture.
• Build high-performance backend systems with scalability and reliability under high load.
• Integrate and manage third‑party APIs and external services.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define technical solutions.
• Work with AWS services to architect and deploy solutions.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes with DevOps.
