Job summary

UL Solutions in Warsaw/Poland or Neu‑Isenburg/Germany is seeking an (Senior) Project Engineer to join on a hybrid basis (3 days on-site). You will manage certification projects from proposal to completion, develop test plans, and prepare customer reports.

Travel to client sites may be required to witness testing and to coordinate reviews. Fluent German and English are required, along with a Master’s degree in a related field and four years of direct experience.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree with four years directly related work experience.
  • Fluent in German & English.
  • Knowledge of conformity standards, including IEC 61010.

Responsibilities

  • Manage execution and timely completion of certification projects by analyzing scope, defining specs, and establishing test programs.
  • Prepare reports for customers and participate in development of UL requirements, test methods and equipment.
  • Act as Project Handler or Reviewer with responsibility from proposal through execution to completion of projects.
  • Travel to client sites for tests when needed and communicate project status to clients through reports and meetings.
  • Provide direction to staff and train entry‑level engineers; coordinate file reviews and assist laboratory teams.

We are looking to appoint an (Senior) Project Engineer (m/f/i) with experience. She/He will join our team based in Neu‑Isenburg/Germany or Warsaw/Poland and work on a hybrid basis (3 days on‑site required).

Key Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision, he/she manages the execution and timely completion of certification projects by analyzing project scope and defining project specifications, establishing test programs for product investigations, and preparing reports for customers. Participates in the development of UL requirements, test methods and test equipment. Exercises project responsibility as a Project Handler in which he/she is responsible from proposal preparation through execution to completion of assigned certification projects. If appropriately qualified, may act as reviewer and is therefore responsible for the various reviews of certification projects.
Responsibilities
  • Independently determines project scope, develops a preliminary plan of investigation, and determines project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction.
  • Projects may include frequent travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites.
  • Serves as Project Handler of record and may sign as Reviewer of record as assigned.
  • Communicates project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports.
  • Prepares Follow‑Up Service Procedures and information pages.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
  • Resolves engineering issues associated with Variation Notices by analyzing and reporting on the acceptability of the variations.
  • Proposes development of new and/or revised UL requirements.
  • Develops special test methods and test equipment.
  • Coordinates and/or performs File Reviews.
  • May represent UL at industry related functions such as seminars and trade shows.
  • May provide direction as a Primary Designated Engineer or Designated Engineer for specific product categories.
  • May direct and review work of assigned staff.
  • May train office, field, and/or laboratory staff and entry‑level engineers.
  • Provides technical assistance to laboratory and/or field staff.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or Physics from an accredited program plus four years directly related work experience.
  • Fluent language skills in German & English.
  • Detailed knowledge of the technical vocabulary common to the appropriate discipline.
  • Working knowledge of conformity standards in use in area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply project-handling concepts in use in area of expertise.
  • Knowledge in IEC 61010.
