Job Overview

North Devon’s ultimate outdoor adventure destination, over 15 top-rated activities, 35 acres of breathtaking parkland. The opportunity is for a Senior Production Chef Apprentice Level 3 at The Ultimate Adventure Centre or Skern Lodge, Bideford, Devon.

Responsibilities
  • Food preparation including light meals & salads.
  • Serving breakfast, lunch and dinners to customers and colleagues.
  • General kitchen duties: assisting the catering manager and head chef in the smooth running of the kitchen, being a team player, maintaining health and hygiene regulations.
  • Supervise a Kitchen Team with responsibility for producing dishes and menus in the restaurant.
  • Accountability for the day‑to‑day running of the kitchen service, including producing, monitoring and maintaining consistent food standards, legislative requirements and quality across all stages of production and supply.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Maths and English at Level 2 (GCSE Grade 4) desirable; Functional Skills in Maths and English can be provided.
  • Experience within catering required; previously achieved Level 2 production chef or a minimum of 12 months relevant industry experience.
  • Time‑management skills, a can‑do and flexible attitude, willingness to learn and develop, communication skills.
  • IT skills, attention to detail, organisational skills, team working, problem‑solving, initiative and customer care.

Training

The apprenticeship lasts 9 months. You will be supported by a trainer throughout. Training will be a mix of face‑to‑face and online learning. You will gain a Level 3 Senior Production Chef Apprenticeship Qualification.

Things to Consider

Contracted hours are 30 hours per week. Shifts are 7 am‑11 am and 3 – 7 pm, 5 out of 7 days per week. A driving licence and car would be an advantage due to shift times.

Future Prospects

We are looking for candidates who want to develop a long‑term career within catering. Further training is available and permanent employment opportunities may be offered upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
