Job summary

IFS is seeking a hands‑on Senior Principal Platform Lead to define and own the Internal Developer Platform. You will guide vision, build self‑service scaffolding, and drive adoption across large product teams while maintaining high standards for security and reliability.

You will ship end‑to‑end developer experiences, templates, and governance, collaborating with multiple domains to deliver a coherent, scalable platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in platform, infrastructure, or developer‑tooling engineering.
• 3+ years in a senior/staff IC or technical lead role.
• Owned an IDP or developer portal end‑to‑end (Backstage, Port, Cortex or equivalent).
• Shipped developer platforms at enterprise scale with adoption.
• Genuine hands‑on infra depth: Kubernetes, GitOps, IaC, CI/CD, secrets management, observability.
• Shipped golden paths, service templates, and standardised CI/CD at scale.
• Customer‑oriented mindset treating internal developers as customers; used surveys and metrics.
• Comfortable in NGA stack: Go backend, React/Next.js frontend, Kafka/RedPanda, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes (AKS).
• Clear communication with engineering leaders and product directors.

Responsibilities

• Own the IDP vision, roadmap, and end‑to‑end execution at IFS, service catalogue, self‑service scaffolding, golden paths, CI/CD integration, and developer portals.
• Own the developer experience vision for the Nexus platform from service creation to production observability.
• Collaborate across Kairos, Nexus, Auth, Base Tech, and product teams to deliver cohesive DX.
• Define platform standards to make the right way the easy way.
• Drive adoption metrics: onboarding time, self‑service completion, platform NPS, time‑to‑first deployment, DORA metrics.
• Integrate authentication/authorization into the IDP self‑service model.
• Work with NGA product teams and IFS R&D to understand pain points and priorities.
• Partner with IAM, infrastructure, and SRE for coherent, reliable, secure surfaces.
• Mentor Principal/Senior engineers to raise the bar on DX.
