Job summary

IFS is seeking a Senior Principal Platform Lead to own and deliver the Internal Developer Platform (IDP). You will set the strategy, define golden paths, and drive adoption across NGA and IFS product teams.

The role combines architectural thinking with hands-on delivery and is a demanding IC position, not a management role. You will ensure the IDP provides self-service templates, CI/CD integration, and a cohesive developer experience across platforms, while mentoring other engineers and shaping

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and shipping production AI applications.
• Kubernetes in production is a deal breaker.
• Owned an IDP or developer portal end-to-end (Backstage, Port, Cortex, or equivalent).
• Built IDP with templates, golden paths and self-service capabilities.
• Able to communicate platform strategy to product and engineering leaders.

Responsibilities

• Own the IDP vision, roadmap, and end-to-end execution at IFS, including service catalogue, self-service scaffolding, golden paths, CI/CD integration, and developer portals.
• Own the Nexus developer experience from service creation through production observability.
• Collaborate with Kairos, Nexus, Auth, Base Tech, and product teams to deliver cohesive developer experiences.
• Define platform standards that make the right way the easy way.
• Drive adoption metrics: onboarding time, self-service completion rates, platform NPS, time-to-first-deployment, DORA metrics.
• Mentor and guide senior platform engineers, raising the bar on DX at IFS.
