Job summary

Netflix is seeking an experienced L5 Software Engineer to design and build tooling powering fleet-wide migration campaigns. You will partner with platform and product teams to de-risk complex infrastructure changes, and define what excellent Paved Path adoption looks like in practice at Netflix.

This high-autonomy role owns migrations end-to-end—from scoping and design to automated execution, validation, and completion.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering skills with production-scale services (Java or Python preferred).
• Experience navigating large, complex infrastructure ecosystems and understanding fleet-wide patterns.
• Hands-on experience with AI-driven solutions and integrating AI agents into workflows.
• Proven ability to drive cross-functional technical projects from design to completion.
• Strong technical writing: design docs, tradeoffs, postmortems.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Migration Engineering: design and execute large-scale code and infrastructure migrations across thousands of repositories and services.
• Automation & Tooling: build internal automation platforms leveraging AI-assisted code modification and batch orchestration.
• Technical Design: write clear design documents and evaluate tradeoffs between approaches.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: collaborate with platform and product teams to de-risk campaigns.
• Paved Path advocacy: identify opportunities to improve adoption and influence product roadmaps.
• Operational Excellence: instrument migrations with telemetry and dashboards to monitor fleet health.
