Job summary

Moderna is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to shape the developer platform that powers its software ecosystem in Warsaw. You will design secure, scalable platform capabilities spanning cloud, automation, and AI-assisted development to enable rapid, compliant software delivery.

You will collaborate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, and engineering teams to implement reusable templates, patterns, and tools that reduce setup time and improve developer productivity.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, developer tooling, or related role.
• Strong experience implementing and maintaining developer platforms, internal tools, CI/CD, secure environments.
• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Extensive experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and modern delivery practices.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud providers.
• Experience with Docker, devcontainers, containerized apps, or standardized environments.
• Strong understanding of secure software development, software supply chain, and dependency management.
• Ability to balance security, standardization, usability, reliability, and developer productivity.
• Proven experience leading technical initiatives with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Excellent troubleshooting across code, pipelines, cloud, networking, identity, tooling, and third-party platforms.
• Adaptability to changing priorities across platform engineering responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and build secure developer platform capabilities using Python/TypeScript, GitHub Actions, Pulumi, Docker, AWS, and APIs.
• Mature governed cloud workspace capabilities with secure patterns and identity controls.
• Create reusable templates, docs, and paved-road patterns for secure development environments.
• Collaborate with engineers to standardize environments and improve onboarding.
• Improve developer experience by reducing setup time and automating workflows.
• Build operational excellence with monitoring, dashboards, and runbooks.
• Establish platform ownership, lifecycle management, incident response, and reliability practices.
• Translate security requirements into automated platform controls with other teams.
• Identify recurring pain points and develop reusable frameworks and tooling.
• Support governed AI-assisted development with approved tools and templates.
• Contribute to the Builder Tools & Platforms portfolio across tools and security delivery.
