N-iX, a global software development company, is seeking a Senior/Lead PHP Engineer to join a project at its discovery phase in Warsaw. You will perform a comprehensive technical assessment of an existing PHP system, understand architecture and business logic, and document findings.

This is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex legacy challenges and shaping architecture decisions. You will collaborate with stakeholders, identify technical risks, and provide recommendations to guide

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial PHP development experience.
• Experience with complex backend systems beyond CMS.
• Strong understanding of distributed and microservices architectures.
• Relational databases design, query optimization and performance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and assess an existing PHP application and its architecture.
• Investigate business logic, system components, integrations, and dependencies.
• Reverse engineer legacy code to understand system behavior and identify improvements.
• Evaluate current architecture for scalability, maintainability and debt.
• Review database structures, relationships and performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather missing technical information.
• Produce architecture diagrams and discovery findings.
• Identify risks and provide modernization recommendations.
• Help define the implementation roadmap after discovery.
