Job summary

Takeda is seeking a Sourcing Manager, Packaging Materials, to lead sourcing across primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging components, including artwork-driven items. You will partner with Packaging Engineering, QA, Regulatory, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to align strategies with business needs and ensure cost, risk, and supply continuity are optimized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 7+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or shared services environments.
• Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract management, and value delivery across cost, risk, and sustainability areas.
• Experience sourcing packaging materials and knowledge of packaging component qualification, artwork and labeling change control, and serialization requirements within a GMP environment.
• Strong analytical and commercial skills, including experience using should-cost models, benchmarks, and cost analysis techniques in sourcing decisions.
• Proficiency with SAP Ariba or similar e-sourcing tools, pipeline management tools, Microsoft Office applications, and generative AI solutions.
• Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships, collaborate across functions, communicate effectively, and work successfully in ambiguous environments.
• Fluent written and spoken English with strong attention to detail and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for packaging materials in alignment with business priorities and category objectives.
• Lead sourcing events and supplier negotiations to secure value and support contract execution.
• Partner with Packaging Engineering, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to support sourcing decisions and optimize specifications.
• Manage supplier performance and governance while supporting supplier selection, segmentation, and relationship management activities.
• Identify and mitigate supply risks through contingency planning and alternative sourcing strategies that support supply continuity.
• Drive value creation initiatives across cost, demand, innovation, risk management, and sustainability objectives.
• Apply packaging category expertise to support component harmonization, artwork and labeling changes, and sustainable packaging initiatives.
• Improve sourcing effectiveness through standardized processes and the use of digital and AI-enabled solutions.
