Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems design, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and equipment specification.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards for HVAC design.
  • Strong English and Polish language proficiency.
  • National Building License to designWithout limitation in piping, heating, ventilation, gas, water supply and sewage.

Responsibilities

  • Support project design, reviews, commissioning, testing, and site walk-downs as needed.
  • Independently apply HVAC safety principles in design development of structures, systems, and components.
  • Prepare reports and studies to resolve HVAC-related technical issues.
  • Develop and revise VIDs, calculations, equipment data sheets, and specifications for HVAC design, including procurement and installation.
  • Support safety analyses and hazard analyses for HVAC systems.
  • Contribute to HVAC system and equipment cost estimates and scheduling.

Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland's nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come. This position is subject to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regulations at 10 CFR Part 810 (Part 810), which govern the transfer of hardware, materials, and technology to support the construction and operation of commercial nuclear power plants overseas.

Job Summary:

This position is for a Senior HVAC Engineer who will support design development of HVAC systems by applying applicable HVAC safety, techniques, procedures and criteria to originate reports, drawings, calculations, and more with applicable procedures, local codes, standards, and contract requirements. The engineer will work with mechanical engineers, other disciplines/functions, and/or the client.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Support project needs for design, design review, commissioning, testing, code interpretations, and walk downs at project locations, as required.

  • Independently apply the principles of HVAC safety in the development of structures, systems, and components.

  • Prepare reports and studies in resolving open technical issues related to the HVAC systems.

  • Develop and revises Ventilation and Instrumentation Diagrams (V&IDs), formal calculations, equipment data sheets, and specifications to complete the detailed design for HVAC systems, including equipment selection, procurement, and installation.

  • Support safety analyses and hazards analyses.

  • Support developments of HVAC system and equipment cost estimate and schedule.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Building Services and Environmental Engineering (or related) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional work experience in HVAC.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must be authorised to live and work in country without sponsorship.

  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of HVAC systems design, experience with heat transfer and thermodynamic calculations, familiarity with HVAC equipment, site installations, and HVAC equipment specification.

  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards relating to regulatory requirements and good engineering practice in HVAC design.

  • Broad knowledge of Mechanical engineering design principles.

  • Experience with Microsoft office programs and other computer programs.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.

  • Strong bilingual proficiency in English and Polish language documents.

  • National Building License to design without limitation in specialty of piping systems and devices for heating, ventilation, gas, water supply and sewage.
