Job summary

Ericsson GmbH in Kraków seeks a Layer 1 Developer to join the SIMS team and help prepare for the UE Simulator for 5G/6G. The role involves hardware testing, embedded software, and high-performance multi-core programming to simulate data link connections efficiently.

You will work in an agile setup, explore new opportunities, and collaborate with international teams. The position offers a hybrid work model with at least three days in the office in Kraków.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering skills with high-quality code (C or Golang).
• Familiarity with LTE/5G physical layer specifications and RF concepts.
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems and hardware interaction.
• Experience with multi-core / multithreading programming for simulations.
• Excellent English speaking/writing skills.

About this opportunity

We are now looking for an engaged Layer 1 Developer to join our team based in Poland. The team will work on how to prepare for the development of a powerful UE Simulator meeting the needs of 5G/6G, and will later become the core team for the actual development of the 5G/6G UE Simulator.The Simulation Services (SIMS) unit is responsible for providing Simulators to product development within Business Area Networks. These Simulators are used in product verification instead of real mobile phones and real core networks.

What you will do

• Be part of an agile team that contributes to Layer 1 development of a UE Simulator.
• Take part in configuring and testing our Simulators on the underlying hardware, making sure they behave correctly and reliably.
• Work in an exciting technical area, supporting Ericsson internal users with an important product for 5G/6G.
• Get the opportunity to work with everything needed in a team: analysis, system design, pre-development and implementation in small increments, ensuring short feedback loops.

You will bring

• Strong software engineering skills with the ability to write high-quality code (must have: C or Golang; nice to have: Python and Java).
• Familiarity with the standards and protocols used in LTE or 5G networks, including the physical layer (Layer 1) specifications.
• Knowledge of RF propagation, modulation schemes and signal processing.
• Knowledge of embedded systems and how software interacts with hardware components, ideally with hands-on experience configuring and testing software on hardware.
• Knowledge of multi-core / multithreading processor programming and parallel processing, to simulate multiple data link connections efficiently.
• Readiness to explore new opportunities, and to continuously learn and improve together with the team, with a genuine enjoyment of coding.
• MSc or BSc level in Telecommunications, Electronics or Computer Science.
• Excellent speaking and writing skills in English.

Nice to have

Given our current Platform Engineering activities, including an ongoing migration to GitLab, a more DevOps-oriented profile is a strong plus. Experience with the following will be valued:

• Hands-on experience designing, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid knowledge of Git and GitLab, ideally in a CI/CD context.
• Experience with Jenkins or another CI/CD pipeline orchestrator.
• Familiarity with event-driven CI/CD architectures.

We work in a hybrid model, minimum 3 days from the office.
