Job summary

KUBO in Warsaw is seeking an experienced System Architect with strong Java development skills to join a technology team building scalable IT systems for the insurance sector. This hands-on role blends software architecture, leadership, and active development.

Expect to code about 75% of your time while guiding the team, setting standards, and driving high-quality software across microservices-based applications and API integrations.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Java development
• 5+ years designing and building web-based systems
• Proven experience designing microservices architectures and distributed systems
• Knowledge of architectural and integration patterns
• Extensive experience with API design and system integration
• DDD knowledge and practical event-driven architecture
• Experience with SQL and relational databases
• Observability and end-to-end monitoring
• Containerization and orchestration with Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience leading technical teams and guiding architecture decisions
• English B2 level; Polish C1 required
• Hybrid work in Warsaw with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote

Responsibilities

• Act as Technical Lead within a Scrum team, guiding architecture and supporting day-to-day development
• Develop and implement business requirements using Java
• Design, develop, and evolve system architectures, microservices, and distributed systems
• Collaborate with Product Owner and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Maintain coding standards, architectural principles, and integration guidelines
• Conduct code reviews to ensure high quality, maintainability and performance
• Mentor developers and support ongoing skill development
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify effective solutions
• Design and oversee system integrations and API architecture
• Ensure performance, security, scalability, and reliability
