Job summary

EPAM Systems Inc. is seeking a Senior Java Software Developer to build robust Java server systems within a global team. You will develop new features, maintain code, and work on streaming apps using Apache Flink.

The role involves writing unit, integration, and behavior tests, and supporting production operations in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of Java experience, strong Spring Framework skills, CI/CD know-how, and solid SQL/Unix abilities, with proficiency in English

You will be working in a global team that develops and maintains a suite of applications that comprise Securities Operations and Corporate Action systems in Group Operations IT. The system is used to support the trade lifecycle in the back office of our client's Investment Bank. Members of this team work closely with the operations teams from all business areas and business development analysts to provide global solutions for varied business requirements. The system is the basis of the next-generation securities management system. The single most important part of our work is software craftsmanship – we push software quality and automation to the limits, always understanding the value we want to provide.

Responsibilities

• Develop new features and maintain existing codebase
• Develop streaming applications with Apache Flink
• Write unit, integration, and behavior tests
• Cooperate within a successful scrum development team built on mutual respect
• Collaborate to refine user requirements through behavior-driven development (BDD)
• Collaborate with other global IT teams
• Do level 3 support, assisting the production operations team in the rollout and support-related matters

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with Java programming
• Experience with Spring stack (Spring Framework, Spring Boot), build tools (Maven, Gradle)
• Clean coding and refactoring skills with great problem-solving ability
• Hands-on experience with agile methodologies, especially SCRUM
• Awareness of test- and behavior-driven development
• Hands-on SQL and Unix experience
• Experience with CI/CD
• Ability to improve older code bases, as well as apply modern best practices to new projects
• Proactive, comfortable working in dynamic environments with fast-paced deliveries and changing requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, and the desire to work as part of a global team
