Job summary

IDT is seeking a Senior/Lead Java Developer with a C background to design, build and scale a cloud PBX solution based on Asterisk. You will work on SIP proxy features in Java and C, drive high availability and performance, and mentor across teams.

Remote/hybrid options exist, with long-term growth and competitive compensation. You will participate in architecture decisions, implement modules in Asterisk, and contribute to design, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of production experience with large-scale deployments.
• Strong Java hands-on experience and C background.
• Experience with CI/CD, clouds, Linux and networking.
• Experience with Asterisk and SIP/VoIP stacks is a plus.
• Good level of English (B2 or higher) and capability to lead technically.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders and participate in product planning and sprints.
• Own the full software lifecycle from requirements to deployment and maintenance.
• Design, architecture, and troubleshooting documentation.
• Evaluate new technologies and approaches for the stack.
• Analyze performance bottlenecks and optimize systems.
• Patch, backport, or enhance Asterisk source code and modules.
• Lead cross-team with backend, infra/DevOps, QA, and product owners.
• Define and implement Asterisk dialplans and SIP proxy features.
