Job summary

HeadHR is looking for a Senior Backend Developer in Poland to design and develop modern payment processing solutions focused on microservices architecture. The role includes building and maintaining high-quality backend services in Java, ensuring system reliability, and collaborating with DevOps teams on automation. Candidates must have 8+ years of experience in backend development, strong knowledge of API design, cloud environments, and observability tools. This position is open to fluent English speakers with a drive for best engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in backend development using Java.

Job description

YOU WILL

• Design and develop modern payment processing solutions based on microservices architecture
• Build and maintain high-quality backend services (Java + APIs) with strong focus on performance and scalability
• Create and own architectural artefacts (LLD, data models, gap analysis)
• Ensure high availability, resiliency, and reliability of systems
• Contribute to modernization of legacy systems and migration towards cloud-based solutions
• Collaborate closely with DevOps teams to enable CI/CD, automation, and DevSecOps practices
• Work with technologies such as Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and service mesh
• Drive best engineering practices, quality standards, and code reviews
• Act as a technical leader and mentor for other engineers
• Identify and resolve complex technical and architectural challenges
• Support observability and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, OpenTelemetry)
• Contribute to technical decision-making and long-term technology strategy
