Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to contribute to the Cloud Load Balancer and cloud-networking tech. You will collaborate with local and global teams to design, implement, test, and deploy scalable solutions that power our cloud platform.

You will work with Python and potentially Go or C++ while embracing code quality, and you will leverage LLMs to accelerate boilerplate generation and debugging in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals (IPv4/IPv6, TCP/UDP, TLS).
• Experience with Linux-based operating systems and building scalable software.

This role provides an opportunity to significantly impact Akamai's growing cloud offerings, requiring a combination of system design, programming, debugging skills, an obsession with code quality, and independence. You will help design and build Akamai's next-generation Cloud Load Balancer. You must have a passion for getting things done quickly and right.

As a Software Engineer Senior II, you will be responsible for:

• Contributing to the development of the Cloud Load Balancer and other cloud-networking technologies
• Sharing your experience and developing best practices along with the team
• Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, testing, and deploying high-quality code in close collaboration with multiple teams
• Working closely with local and remote peers and collaborating with global teams on various technical topics
• Leveraging LLMs as a core part of your workflow for tasks such as generating boilerplate code, exploring implementation options and debugging issues

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have relevant experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or related field
• Know networking fundamentals (IPv4/6, TCP/UDP, TLS)
• Have experience with Linux-based operating systems
• Have experience in building scalable software solutions
• Have experience with Python programming language
• Be open to learn and use new languages as needed (e.g. Go or C++)
