Job summary

Akamai is hiring a Software Engineer II to join the Data Engineering Team within the Cloud Technology Group. You will help design, implement, and operate data streaming platforms with a focus on high availability, scalability and security.

You will work on FedRAMP compliance, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tooling while collaborating with a multinational engineering team to deliver reliable, observable streaming services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience as a system or platform engineer and in creating, maintaining and migrating REST APIs.
• Experience with SQL and software development using at least 2 of Golang, Python, Java, C/C++, JavaScript.
• Experience with distributed systems and Linux networking (incl. TCP/IP, SSH, SSL, HTTP).
• Familiar with DevOps practices and CI/CD; eager to learn.
• Experience with large data platforms and data streaming concepts (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and implementation of highly available, scalable, and performant solutions.
• Build, integrate, and support FedRAMP compliance for data streaming services on Akamai Platform.
• Design and develop DevOps tools to streamline the software delivery system.
• Develop processes and tools to monitor, analyze, maintain and improve streaming data pipelines usability and observability.
• Develop and implement procedures for automating operational tasks with FedRAMP and SOX compliance.

As a Software Engineer II, you will join a team of software and platform engineers. Your team will enhance platform core services and will design and develop DevOps tools for managing 100% availability and three 9's performance and reliability SLOs for FedRAMP, GDPR and SOX compliant data streaming platform.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Contributing to the design and implementation of highly available, scalable, and performant solutions
• Building, integrating, and supporting FedRAMP compliance for data streaming services on Akamai Platform
• Designing and developing DevOps tools to make the software delivery system run seamlessly
• Developing processes and tools to monitor, analyze, maintain and improve streaming data pipelines usability and observability
• Developing and implementing procedures for automating operational tasks streamlining day-to-day work with focus on FedRAMP and SOX compliance

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have relevant experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent
• Have relevant experience as a system or platform engineer and in creating, maintaining and migrating REST APIs
• Have experience with SQL and software development using at least 2 out of Golang, Python, Java, C/C++, JavaScript is nice to have
• Have experience with distributed systems and Linux networking (incl. TCP/IP, SSH, SSL, HTTP)
• Possess experience with contemporary DevOps practices and CI/CD and need to have eagerness to learn
• Have experience with massive data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, etc), data streaming concepts and design principles (Data Modeling, Streaming vs Batch processing, Distributed Messaging, etc)
