Job summary

Box is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Launchpad team to advance the Experience Platform with global localization, AI‑driven tooling, and scalable frontend platform infra. You will help modernize the design system, implement AI‑assisted migrations, and lead cross‑functional initiatives across Box's engineering org.

Excellent English skills and a growth mindset are essential. The role emphasizes mentoring, RFC design reviews, and collaboration with PM, UX, and architecture teams.

Qualifications

The Launchpad Team within the Experience Platform (XP) organization - the team builds the core foundational frontend infrastructure, shared architectural systems, and developer tooling that power all web experiences across Box.

From modernizing our core design system (Blueprint) and architecting next-generation frontend frameworks (Micro-Frontends / Module Federation) to building intelligent developer acceleration tools, developer assistants, and seamless internationalization/localization (i18n/l10n) pipelines, Launchpad establishes the standards and platform capabilities that empower hundreds of engineers across Box to ship secure, accessible, high-performance, and globally consistent user experiences at enterprise scale.

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Software Engineer who combines deep frontend/full-stack platform expertise with a strong passion and demonstrated hands-on skill set in Generative AI, LLM-powered developer tooling, and modern UI architectures.

What you’ll do:

Evolve Global Experience & Localization Infrastructure: Expand and maintain high-throughput i18n/l10n workflows, Translation Management System (TMS) integrations, ICU/CLDR formatters and dynamic locale-switching.

Architect & Scale Core Frontend Platform Systems: Own, evolve, and modernize Box’s core UI design system, establishing rock-solid standards for styling isolation and design token theming.

Champion AI-Driven Developer Productivity & Product Capabilities: Pioneer the integration of AI tools, coding agents, LLM-assisted migration workflows (e.g., automated component migrations, codemods, AI skill integrations), and intelligent assistants that supercharge developer velocity and operational efficiency across the engineering organization.

Drive Monorepo & Tooling Excellence: Steer the evolution of our frontend, build pipelines (Nx, Yarn 4, Webpack/Vite, CI/CD automated gates), and package management to ensure fast, predictable, and resilient developer workflows.

Cross-Domain Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Partner closely with Product Management, UX Design Systems, Architecture SIGs, and cross-functional product teams across Box to deliver scalable multi-quarter initiatives.

Mentor & Elevate: Guide and mentor peers, participate in rigorous architectural design reviews (RFCs/TDDs) and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous innovation.

Who you are:

Experience: 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong track record of designing, building, and operating production-grade web applications, component libraries, or frontend platform infrastructure.

Exceptional AI & Automation Skills:

• Deep hands-on experience leveraging LLMs, prompt engineering, agentic workflows, or AI developer assistants (e.g., Claude Skills, Cursor) for code generation, automated refactoring, documentation extraction, or workflow automation.
• Experience designing intelligent pipelines, evaluation harnesses, or context-aware AI integrations that solve real platform, developer tooling, or product engineering challenges.

Modern Frontend Mastery:

• Deep proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript (ESNext), and React with solid knowledge of modern React patterns
• Thorough understanding of modern CSS architectures: CSS Modules, Design Tokens, CSS variables/custom properties, CSS isolation/scoping strategies, and animation patterns.

Platform, Monorepo & Build Systems:

• Proven experience working with monorepos (Nx, Turborepo, Yarn/pnpm workspaces), module bundling (Webpack, Rollup, Vite, Module Federation), and CI/CD pipelines.

Enterprise Quality & Architecture:

• Rigorous focus on web accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), cross-browser compatibility, web performance vitals, automated testing

Communication & Impact:

• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to articulate complex technical trade-offs to stakeholders, write clear architectural specs (RFCs), and drive domain-wide consensus.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• i18n / l10n Expertise: Experience with enterprise localization frameworks (FormatJS, react-intl, i18next), CLDR/ICU standards, bidirectional/RTL layouts, or TMS synchronizations (e.g., Smartling, Transifex, Phrase).
• Micro-Frontend Architecture: Hands-on experience with Module Federation, decoupled web runtimes, or cross-application singleton providers.
• Data & Analytics Infrastructure: Familiarity with client-side event tracking, product analytics integrations (e.g., Pendo, Segment), or Telemetry/Real User Monitoring (RUM).
• Styling & Design Systems: CSS Modules, Design Tokens, Ariakit / Radix / React Aria primitives, Storybook
