Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Engineer - Flood Modeling in Krakow to lead flood modelling and risk assessment projects within the Enterprise Capabilities team. You will drive hydraulic modelling efforts and mentor junior staff, delivering robust technical outputs for major water and transport schemes.

You will use Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS and InfoWorks ICM, collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide innovative solutions on global assignments.

Qualifications

• Over 10 years of experience in flood modelling and flood risk assessment.
• Significant experience in applying hydraulic modelling software (Flood Modeller and/ or TUFLOW) and hydrological assessments using FEH and REFH2.
• Demonstrable experience on projects in UK&I.
• Strong GIS skills using QGIS, ArcGIS and / or MapInfo.
• Experience of other modelling types and software (e.g. flood forecasting or water quality modelling using Mike 11) is advantageous.
• Fluent in English, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Technical Expert: Lead the estimation of flood flows using approved methodologies and develop hydraulic models to support flood alleviation schemes and risk assessments.
• Deliver: Produce and review high-quality technical reports documenting model build and uncertainties.
• Collaborate: Work closely with engineers and technical specialists to deliver a wide range of flood risk management projects.
• Lead: Mentor staff within the team and build relationships across disciplines.
• Quality: Use project management systems to deliver outputs on time and within budget.
