Job summary

Solid in Kraków seeks an accomplished engineering leader to guide a team of 6-12 engineers, owning hiring, structure, performance, and career development. You will shape multi-quarter technical and delivery strategy with product and platform leadership to scale core services.

You will partner with senior/staff engineers on architecture for distributed systems in regulated, high-availability domains, and represent the team with product, banking partners, and Seattle teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience with backend languages such as Java/Kotlin or Go.
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams, preferably on platform or distributed-systems teams.
• Experience building and scaling distributed systems in regulated/high-availability domains.
• Proven mentoring and growth of engineers to Senior/Staff levels.
• Ability to lead across multiple sub-teams and coaches teams through tech leads.

Responsibilities

• Own all aspects of people management for a team of 6-12 engineers including hiring, structure, performance, and career development.

• Lead complex initiatives such as new-market launches, migrations, or scaling core money-movement services.
• Partner with senior and staff engineers on architecture and technical direction in regulated, high-availability financial systems.
• Represent the team across Product, banking/payments partners, and Seattle-based teams.
• Champion engineering and operational best practices—delivery health, quality, and on-call excellence metrics.
• Work in a hybrid model: onsite Tuesday through Thursday each week in Kraków.

• Represent the team across Product, banking and payment partners, and Seattle-based partner teams
• Champion engineering and operational best practices - delivery health, quality, and on-call excellence metrics
• Work in a hybrid model: onsite Tuesday through Thursday each week in Kraków

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 10+ years of software development experience, including backend (Java/Kotlin, Go)
• 5+ years of experience managing engineering teams, ideally on platform or distributed-systems teams
• Experience building and scaling distributed systems on public cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), ideally in a regulated or high-availability domain
• Experience mentoring and growing engineers up to Senior and Staff level
