Job summary

Tellent is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join Tellent Recruitee, our global Applicant Tracking System trusted by thousands of organizations to attract and hire great people. You will focus on backend development in Elixir, collaborating with Backend and Frontend Engineers, Design, QA, and DevOps to solve complex problems at scale.

You’ll bring commercial Elixir experience or strong backend skills with a curiosity to learn Elixir, plus PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and RabbitMQ knowledge.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience with Elixir or strong backend development in Ruby on Rails, Python, Java, or PHP with motivation to learn Elixir.
• Experience designing and building scalable applications and solid understanding of databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of Elasticsearch and RabbitMQ.
• Strong debugging and pragmatic approach to improving existing applications.
• Product mindset with focus on user impact and pragmatic trade-offs.
• Collaborative, willing to pair program and share knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve reliable, scalable backend solutions for Tellent Recruitee.
• Modernize the existing codebase to increase performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Design and implement solutions balancing technical quality with customer and business needs.
• Take ownership of features, ensure they are well-tested and meet quality standards.
• Investigate and resolve bugs to maintain a stable product experience.
• Participate in design discussions and architectural decisions with peers.
