Job summary

GEP is seeking a senior DevOps engineer to lead a production platform at scale, focusing on security, reliability, and cost efficiency. You will modernize the stack by migrating stateful workloads to Kubernetes and moving the WebMethods Java platform to Kubernetes, while guiding other engineers and collaborating with platform architecture.

You will own end-to-end CI/CD for multi-service environments, improve scalability, and partner with R&D and service desks to resolve incidents and streamline

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Linux administration, automation, and troubleshooting in production environments.
• Strong experience with Ansible, Terraform, and infrastructure as code.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including cloud infrastructure and networking.
• Strong experience with scripting and automation using Bash, Python, and Groovy.
• Solid experience with Kubernetes, containers, Helm, and GitOps-style deployment workflows.
• Practical ownership of end-to-end CI/CD processes, including Git, Jenkins, container builds, artifact delivery, Argo CD, and multi-environment Kubernetes deployments.
• Strong experience with observability and monitoring stacks, especially Prometheus-based monitoring and alerting.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting complex production platforms with multiple microservices and integrations.
• Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Kafka, and RabbitMQ in operational or platform engineering contexts.

Responsibilities

• Shape and improve the end-to-end CI/CD process for multiple Node.js and Java microservices, from source control and build pipelines to container images, Helm charts, Argo CD deployments, and Kubernetes environments across development, staging, and production.
• Help prepare the platform for higher transaction volumes by improving scalability, reliability, and performance of core workloads and platform services.
• Contribute to platform modernization initiatives, including migration of stateful workloads from virtual machines to Kubernetes and migration of the WebMethods Java platform to Kubernetes.
• Drive practical improvements in security, maintainability, and cost efficiency across infrastructure and application delivery processes.
• Work closely with developers, R&D teams, and the platform architect to troubleshoot issues, improve delivery processes and guide less senior team members.
• Support daily operational responsibilities, including monitoring, incident handling, and technical support through collaboration channels and Jira with R&D and service desk teams.

ABOUT THE JOB:

We are looking for a senior DevOps engineer who wants to make a rea l impact on a business-critical platform. You will join the team at an important stage of growth, helping us prepare for higher volumes, better scalability, and even stronger performance.

Th e role is strongly hands-on and focused on improving the platform in practice across security, maintainability, and cost efficiency. You will also contribute to key modernization work, including migrating stateful workloads from virtual machines to Kubernetes and moving the WebMethods Java platform to Kubernetes. As the most senior hands-on DevOps engineer in the team, you will guide and coach other engineers while working closely with the platform architect, who defines direction and stays hands-on as well.

You will have a visible impact on how the platform evolves and how engineering work is done across the team.

As a DevOps Engineer your main responsibilities will include:

WHAT WOULD WE LIKE FROM YOU?

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on DevOps professional with strong ownership of production platforms and a track record of improving reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency in complex environments. This role is well suited for someone experienced in operating and evolving complex production platforms who enjoys solving real platform challenges, improving engineering standards, and bringing seniority to an operational team that is deeply involved in the platform every day. You should be able to guide and coach teammates through hands-on work and communicate well with developers. Act as a technical reference point for the team, guiding best practices and raising engineering standards.

Ability to balance reliability, performance, security, maintainability, and cost efficiency in technical decisions.

Strong troubleshooting mindset, ownership, and ability to work independently in a dynamic production environment.

NICE TO HAVE:

Experience with Windows Server, PowerShell, and Microsoft SQL Server.

Experience with WebMethods products and related platform components.

Software development experience in backend engineering or building internal DevOps tools.

Practical experience using AI tools and AI agents for DevOps work, including code generation, automation support, troubleshooting, and controlled execution of shell or SSH-based operational tasks.
