Job summary

Box Poland is seeking a senior backend engineer to advance our data foundations platform. You will own asynchronous data services, drive reliability and observability, and design scalable systems across Box's data stores.

Collaboration with Core Data teams is essential to align data requirements and architecture. You will work on production services, tackle performance challenges, and influence the technical direction of the Data Foundations platform as the team grows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development in distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Java or Scala for production services.
• Experience with asynchronous systems, data processing, messaging.
• Fluent English communication.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve asynchronous data services that support data synchronization across Box's systems and data stores.
• Take ownership of existing services and help improve their reliability, scalability, observability, and overall architecture.
• Design and implement new services and improvements to support growing data volumes and evolving platform requirements.
• Help ensure data remains consistent and reliable across different data stores and downstream systems.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and consolidate existing services and improve the overall data platform.
• Collaborate with engineers and teams across Core Data and Box to understand data requirements, dependencies, and technical challenges.
• Participate in the operation and continuous improvement of production services, including troubleshooting and addressing reliability or performance issues.
• Contribute to the technical direction of the Data Foundations platform as the new team and its ownership evolve.
• Participate in our on-call rotation, available at all times while on-call to help respond to and triage any issues that arise.
