Job summary

Box, Inc. is building a Data Foundations team within Core Data to own asynchronous data services that support data synchronization across Box’s systems. You will contribute to the reliability, observability, and architecture of large-scale data infrastructure.

The role focuses on designing new services, improving existing ones, and ensuring data consistency across stores, while collaborating with multiple teams and participating in on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience in backend/distributed systems.
• Experience building production backend services in Java or Scala.
• Strong ownership mindset and ability to troubleshoot and improve production systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve asynchronous data services supporting data synchronization across Box’s systems.
• Improve reliability, scalability, observability, and architecture of existing services.
• Design and implement new services to handle growing data volumes and platform needs.
• Ensure data consistency across different data stores and downstream systems.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and consolidate services for a better data platform.
• Collaborate with Core Data teams to understand data requirements and challenges.
• Participate in on-call rotations and respond to production issues.
