Job summary

GFT Poland is seeking a senior data engineering leader in Kraków to drive data migration, design scalable pipelines on GCP using PySpark and Scala, and guide a pod of engineers. You will mentor teams, collaborate with Business Analysts, and ensure production systems run reliably with robust monitoring.

The role requires deep experience with Spark, Hadoop, ETL frameworks, Python/SQL, REST APIs, and cloud architecture. Fluency in English and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software design, data engineering and DevOps environments.
• Strong PySpark or Scala development and solution design experience.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform and building data pipelines.
• Experience with Spark, Hadoop, Hive, ETL frameworks.
• Experience with Python, SQL, and data integration.
• Experience with REST APIs and RESTful services.
• Strong Unix/Linux knowledge.
• Experience with Git, Jenkins, Ansible, Jira.
• Strong communication and English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for data migration projects.
• Design and develop scalable data pipelines using GCP, PySpark and Scala.
• Mentor engineers and oversee the technical delivery of the engineering pod.
• Work with Business Analysts to ensure requirements are correctly interpreted and implemented.
• Support production environments, troubleshoot issues and communicate findings to development teams.
• Identify opportunities to use AI enablers to improve engineering workflows.
