Job summary

AMD is seeking a Senior Compiler Performance Engineer to improve application performance on AMD CPUs by analyzing compiler output and machine code in real applications. You will refine MLIR/LLVM based transformations and contribute optimization passes, working with cross‑functional teams to strengthen performance across partner workloads.

The role requires deep technical analysis, proficiency in C/C++, and experience with profiling tools on Linux and Windows.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of LLVM, MLIR, and modern compiler optimization techniques.
• Solid C/C++ programming skills with an emphasis on compiler friendly code.
• Ability to read x86_64 assembly, including SIMD instructions.
• Experience with profiling tools such as perf, VTune, and MSVC profiler.
• Understanding CPU architecture fundamentals (pipelines, caches, branch prediction).

Responsibilities

• Analyze compiler generated x86_64 machine code to identify inefficiencies.
• Work with MLIR and LLVM IR to inspect transformations and improve lowering.
• Develop or refine MLIR/LLVM optimization passes for AMD architectures.
• Refactor C/C++ code to improve auto vectorization and memory access patterns.
• Use profiling tools to identify bottlenecks at IR, compiler, or binary level.
• Collaborate with compiler specialists on instruction selection, register allocation, and optimization heuristics.
