Job summary

Outokumpu is seeking a skilled Senior Developer to design, develop, maintain, and optimize high-availability MES applications on HP NonStop platforms. You will work with business stakeholders, architects, and support teams to deliver robust transaction processing systems.

The role requires COBOL development on HP NonStop, strong analytical capabilities, and collaboration across teams. Partial remote work and ongoing professional development are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.
• Several years of COBOL development experience.
• Hands-on experience with HP NonStop is seen as plus.
• Strong analytical, Technical Leadership, Critical Thinking and high troubleshooting skills.
• Proficient knowledge of other programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, C#, Python or .NET is a plus.
• Familiarity with MES and related systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL applications on HP NonStop systems.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and system designs.
• Manage the application lifecycle, including upgrades, testing, deployment, validation, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot production issues, provide end-user support, and participate in OnCall service.
• Optimize application performance and support automation, standardization, and process improvements.
• Collaborate with business, QA, infrastructure, and support teams to ensure stable operations.
• Apply development best practices, IT security policies, compliance requirements, and safety rules.
• Support system modernization initiatives and mentor junior developers when needed.
