Omilia is seeking a Senior C/C++ Engineer to join its product engineering team in Poland. You will design, implement, and maintain high-performance telephony and SIP components, with exposure to Asterisk modules and real-time systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in C/C++ systems programming with memory management and multithreading.

• Strong OO analysis and design and English communication skills.

Job description

The Senior C/C++ Engineer sits within Omilia's product engineering team, building and maintaining performance-critical systems software that underpins Omilia's conversational AI infrastructure. The role requires strong systems-level programming fundamentals and, ideally, prior exposure to telephony or real-time communications stacks such as Asterisk-based voice platforms, SIP signaling, and dialplan engineering. It is structured to let a strong C/C++ engineer grow into deep telephony specialization over time, with mentorship available from the team's existing SIP experts. Engineers who already bring that expertise are fast-tracked into the specialized workstreams.

Accountabilities

• Own the design, development, and ongoing support of performance-critical C/C++ components across Omilia's platform
• Own resolution of scalability and performance issues affecting telephony and SIP systems
• Ensure effective time management and consistent delivery against deadlines
• Contribute as an integrated, collaborative team member across engineering and cross-functional teams

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain C/C++ components across Omilia's platform, with emphasis on performance, memory safety, and concurrency correctness in production systems
• Develop efficient applications for mission-critical systems geared for high availability and performance
• Debug complex, multi-threaded, low-level issues using tools such as gdb, valgrind, and/or strace
• Develop, extend, and maintain custom Asterisk modules (res_, chan_, app_*) to support call handling, recording, and routing requirements specific to the platform
• Patch, rebuild, and validate Asterisk core and third-party modules against upstream security advisories and internal hardening requirements
• Identify performance bottlenecks and suggest improvements
• Develop with security principles in mind and scale services with a DevOps mindset
• Meet regularly with the line manager to review progress; manage issue resolution and elevate critically when needed
• Work effectively with other teams, units, and departments, ensuring clear information flow and team working
• Support other organisational priority activities when necessary, and act as an Omilia ambassador

Requirements

Required

• 5+ years professional experience in C/C++ systems programming, including memory management, multithreading, and low-level debugging
• Experience with Git and C/C++ build systems such as CMake or Meson
• Hands-on experience modifying, compiling, and deploying Asterisk
• Experience writing APIs and/or Web Services & Microservices using C/C++
• Object-oriented analysis and design using common design patterns
• Self-motivated and driven to create extraordinary things
• Ability to work under pressure and on strict deadlines
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
• Very good written and oral communication skills in English
• Continuous innovation mindset

Nice to have

• Knowledge of SIP (RFC 3261) and related RFCs (SDP, RTP/RTCP, STUN/TURN/ICE) and practical dialplan authoring experience
• Experience with Java or Python programming
• Familiarity with FreeSWITCH, Kamailio, or OpenSIPS, WebRTC-to-SIP interworking, or call recording/audio codec architectures (G.711, G.729, Opus)
• Experience in regulated environments (PCI-DSS, HIPAA) where call recording and redaction requirements apply
