Job summary

Cisco is seeking a Software Engineer for the Splunk Search Experience backend team. You will help build the next-generation, highly scalable search platform powering AI-driven workflows across our products.

You will design, develop, and launch features that power core search functionalities, work on distributed systems, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced environment. This role is based in Kraków and requires strong backend expertise.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering with CS degree or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in C++, with ability to learn Python/Java/Go quickly.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, OS, and software design.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills with relevant tools.
• Experience in distributed systems like databases and storage.
• Experience with CI/CD systems, test automation, and AI coding assistants integration.
• Experience with REST, gRPC, or similar paradigms.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Responsibilities

• Drive evolution of Splunk’s flagship search engine capabilities.
• Partner with product and cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance backend services.
• Design, develop, and launch features powering core search functionalities.
• Build robust, scalable distributed systems in multi-threaded/process environments.
• Define and perform search language layer optimizations and transformations.
• Analyze reliability and scalability of search execution pipelines.
• Diagnose incidents and design enhancements for prevention; mentor junior engineers.
