LeoVegas is seeking an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our Retention domain. You’ll help build scalable backend services in a fast-moving, microservice environment, using Java or Kotlin, Spring, and Kafka to deliver value across our products.

In a hybrid setup, you’ll own features end-to-end, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive initiatives with a strong quality mindset. Your work will directly influence player journeys, bonuses, loyalty programs, and cross-channel

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend development experience in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Experience with messaging systems, e.g., Kafka.
• Experience with microservice architecture and Spring/JPA.
• Proficient with MySQL databases.
• Familiarity with Claude AI tools.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As part of our Retention domain, you’ll play a key role in developing the platforms and features that keep players engaged and coming back for more.

This is a great opportunity to join a fast-moving, flat-structured team as a Senior Backend Engineer, where your work will directly shape value-generating features across our products.

The Retention team powers the organisation with communication capabilities, ranging from indirect and direct communication with the players to a custom-built toolbox that enriches the player journey with bonuses, loyalty programs, and seamless cross-channel experiences. As one of the most crucial parts of the player lifecycle, the Retention domain ensures our players return for new, exciting, and rewarding experiences.

YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Building scalable, robust and efficient solutions in our full-stack team and ensure the continuous delivery in our microservice architecture.

Being involved in technical discussions to challenge, propose, evaluate, and take a guiding and supportive approach to business needs.

Working closely with our operational units and stakeholders.

Driving your own initiatives with a high-quality mindset.

Working within the full chain of development, having end-to-end responsibilities.

Collaborative work across the organisation with other domains.

Making sure our IT ecology is scalable and ready for upcoming expansions.

OUR SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Minimum of 6+ years of experience working as a back-end developer with Java and/or Kotlin

Experience with messaging tools (i.e. Kafka)

Experience with microservice architecture

You have experience with common Java frameworks such as Spring and JPA

MySQL relational databases are not something new for you

Experience with AI tools like Claude

NICE TO HAVES

Experience with OpenAPI

Experience with BigQuery

Experience with Kubernetes
