Job summary

SplitMetrics is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (Python) to design and build scalable backend services in a remote-first setup. You will implement async job execution, integrate with LLM services, and ensure data quality and reliability across ETL pipelines.

The role requires 4+ years in Python backend work, strong FastAPI and PostgreSQL/S3 skills, and hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes, with a focus on agentic AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Python backend development experience.
• Strong experience with FastAPI.
• Solid PostgreSQL and S3 (or equivalents).
• Experience with async task queues: Celery, Redis, Kafka.
• Production experience with microservices, long-running jobs, retries, and failure handling.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI: MCP servers, agents, and various LLMs.
• Familiarity with AWS, observability basics (logging/monitoring), and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend services in Python using FastAPI.
• Implement asynchronous job execution and status tracking (Redis/Celery/Kafka).
• Integrate with internal and external LLM services.
• Store, version, and serve creative assets efficiently.
• Develop MCP servers to expose our platform to third-party AI agents and clients.
• Build ETL pipelines and ensure data quality from ingestion to storage.
• Ensure system stability, observability, and cost-efficient inference.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer (Python) who will join our team.

What will you do:

• Design and build backend services in Python (FastAPI)


• Implement async job execution and status tracking (Redis/Celery/Kafka)


• Integrate with LLM services (internal & external)


• Store, version, and serve creative assets efficiently


• Build and maintain external MCP servers that expose our platform to third-party AI agents and clients


• Develop ETL pipelines and ensure data quality across ingestion, transformation, and storage


• Ensure stability, observability, and cost-efficient inference

About you:

• 4+ years Python backend experience


• Strong FastAPI experience


• Solid PostgreSQL + S3 (or equivalents)


• Experience with async task queues (Celery, Redis, Kafka)


• Production experience integrating with microservices: long-running jobs, retries, failure handling


• Solid hands-on experience with agentic AI: building MCP servers, implementing agents, and working with various LLMs and other generative models


• Genuine enthusiasm for agentic AI and keeping up with how the field evolves


• Basic observability skills (logging, monitoring, alerting)


• Experience in cross-functional teams (frontend, ML)


• Experience with AWS infrastructure, Docker, Kubernetes

It would be great if you have:

• Familiarity with LangChain or agentic workflows


• Marketing technology background (ad platforms, creative tools)


• Experience with StarRocks (or other OLAP databases, ex. Clickhouse)
