Job summary

Egnyte is seeking a seasoned backend engineering leader to drive PLG-focused features, onboarding, and self-service growth. You will own architectural direction, manage technical debt, and collaborate with Product, DevOps, and SRE to align infrastructure with the PLG roadmap.

You will mentor engineers, ensure stack stability, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning while maintaining high standards and strong performance across the team.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java for backend development and system integration.
• Experience in SaaS backend engineering with ownership of server-side systems including API design, feature flag management, and production deployments.
• Hands-on experience with database state management and data migration — writing and executing migration scripts, resolving data inconsistencies, and coordinating safe rollouts between legacy and new system configurations.
• Familiarity with QA processes and test automation — including defining regression testing scope, managing QA environments, and coordinating multi-phase release rollouts (RC → production).

Responsibilities

• Drive PLG Strategy: Lead scalable features focused on user onboarding, conversion, and self-service growth.
• Lead from the Front: Provide architectural direction and high-quality code.
• Own technical debt and scalability, ensuring the stack meets world-class engineering standards.
• Inject best practices into architecture to support rapid experimentation and product evolution.
• Mentor team members through design reviews and technical guidance.
• Bridge code and commerce by providing business context to technical decisions.
• Ensure high platform stability and optimize system productivity through automation and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Product, DevOps, and SRE to align infrastructure with the PLG roadmap.
• Strengthen engineering standards and foster a high-performing work environment.
• Hybrid Presence: Collaborate in person at least 3 days a week.
