Job summary

GFT Poland is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer with AI/ML skills to join a large enterprise transformation project in Kraków. You will design, develop, and support Java microservices, leverage Python in enterprise-scale contexts, and drive AI-enabled software development lifecycles.

Hybrid work is available with collaboration across architects, QA, SRE, and platform teams. The role requires deep experience in Java microservices (Spring Boot), CI/CD, cloud (Azure), database expertise

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on Python development in enterprise-scale environments.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle or PostgreSQL databases.
• Experience with Java microservices based on Spring Boot.
• CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins or GitLab.
• Experience with Azure cloud services.
• Understanding of REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with automated testing (JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers).
• GenAI familiarity and AI governance experience.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, release, and support Java microservices and related components.
• Contribute to solution design and integration patterns aligned with target architecture and non-functional requirements.
• Identify and help resolve technical risks, dependencies, and delivery blockers.
• Follow and contribute to engineering standards, CI/CD practices, and quality controls.
• Deliver robust unit, integration, and contract testing.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and security reviews.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools while maintaining security, quality, and governance standards.
• Apply GenAI development practices including LLM usage, RAG concepts, and agent-based workflows.
• Build production-ready services with strong observability and operational readiness.
• Support release activities, integrations, and environment readiness.
• Collaborate with engineering, architecture, QA, platform, and operations teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering excellence.
• At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience.
