Fyul seeks a Senior Back-End Software Engineer for a 6-month assignment in our Payments sub-team. You will support tax calculations, VAT processing, invoicing, and audit readiness, building robust back-end systems for precise financial data across transactions.

Key work includes scalable development, product collaboration, and ownership of platform improvements, with emphasis on code quality, reviews, and continuous growth.

Qualifications

About the role & the team:

We are seeking a Senior Back-End Software Engineer for a 6-month assignment to join our dedicated Payments sub-team, serving as a critical bridge between our technology infrastructure and accounting and finance stakeholders. In this role, you will focus on the e-commerce side of our financial operations, directly supporting tax calculations, VAT processing, invoicing systems, and essential audit preparedness for the business. You will be responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining robust back-end systems that ensure our financial data remains precise, compliant, and seamless across all transactional workflows. Your daily tasks will include:

• Core Development: Write and ship high-quality, scalable code, while identifying and addressing areas for improvement across the codebase.
• Product Collaboration: Work closely with product managers and stakeholders, applying product thinking to every technical decision.
• Engineering Culture: Contribute actively to the team through code reviews, refactoring, testing, and pair programming.
• Ownership & Execution: Take ownership of the design and execution of your initiatives, driving prioritized bug fixes and platform improvements.
• Continuous Growth: Engage in knowledge-sharing activities (attending or presenting at weekly sessions) and continuously develop technical and soft skills through best practices.

Your qualifications:

• Good level of English (spoken and written)
• 5+ years in Backend development, with proficiency in either PHP or Node.js and a willingness to learn the other.
• Strong expertise in high-load architecture, Distributed Systems, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and CQRS.
• Solid background in software engineering principles and best practices (SOLID, TDD, CI/CD, Agile).
• Comfortable using Claude as an LLM partner for thinking, architectural brainstorming, and code generation.
• Skilled in debugging, unit testing, and optimizing application performance.
• Product-minded approach (prioritizing work based on business impact over technical preference) with a strong sense of ownership.
