Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Android to help shape the Android Overview experience and launcher components. You will design and deliver features for multi-display support, drag-and-drop, and performance improvements on billions of devices.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to MVVM modernization, and help drive the platform's next-generation user experiences with Kotlin and modern Android tools.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 3 years testing, maintaining, or launching software products; 1 year of large-scale design/architecture.
• 3 years of Android development experience.
• Experience with Kotlin.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and launch new features for the Android Overview experience, such as enhanced drag and drop, pagination, and multi-display support.
• Analyze and improve the performance, responsiveness, and memory footprint of Overview features within Launcher.
• Contribute to the ongoing architectural modernization of Launcher, including adopting MVVM and integrating Jetpack Compose for UI development.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve complex issues related to functionality, performance, and accessibility within Overview.
• Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product managers, and engineers across Launcher and Android Platform to define and build innovative multitasking solutions.
