Job summary

Queen Square Recruitment Ltd is recruiting a Senior Android Engineer / Software Consultant to join a product engineering team working on a large-scale Android application. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role where you own complex initiatives from problem definition through to production release.

You will work across the Android codebase, influence architectural decisions, improve stability and performance, mentor engineers, and present outcomes to technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial Android development experience.
• Expert-level Kotlin programming skills.
• Strong hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.
• Proven experience designing and maintaining large-scale, multi-module Android applications.
• Demonstrable technical leadership in a large, multi-team product environment.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, ambiguous engineering initiatives from problem definition through to production deployment.
• Define technical direction, produce solution designs and document architectural decisions, supporting recommendations with evidence and data.
• Drive application stability, performance and overall app health across multiple modules and teams.
• Work across the full Android codebase, including UI, state management, data layers, networking, SDK integrations and build systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineering managers and stakeholders to clarify requirements, assess trade-offs and proactively manage risks.
• Lead technical and architectural design reviews, raising standards for testing, monitoring and release practices.
• Investigate and resolve complex crashes, ANRs, regressions, threading issues and SDK-related problems.
• Mentor senior engineers and promote knowledge sharing and sustainable technical decisions.
• Present technical solutions and demonstrate outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Senior Android Engineer – Kotlin & Jetpack Compose Consultant

Location: Łódź, Poland Hybrid/Remote

Contract: Hourly rate

Duration: 4 months

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Android Engineer / Software Consultant to join a product engineering team working on a large-scale Android application.

This is a senior, hands-on technical leadership role suited to an engineer who can take ownership of complex, high-risk initiatives, shape architectural decisions and deliver improvements from initial problem definition through to production release.

You will work across the Android codebase, influencing technical direction, improving application stability and performance, and collaborating with engineers, product managers and other stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Demonstrable technical leadership in a large, multi-team product environment.


• Experience owning application stability, crash analysis, ANR investigation and staged production rollouts.


• Ability to become productive in a complex codebase quickly and confidently make high-impact technical decisions.


• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, SOLID principles and clean code practices.


• Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

• Android application performance optimisation and startup-time improvements.


• Experience with navigation architecture and complex application flows.


• Automotive, navigation or mapping-related software experience.


• Previous experience working as a contractor embedded within a product engineering team.
