Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking an experienced AI software engineer to build and evolve AI capabilities across multiple construction software products. You will design production-grade AI systems, including LLM-based experiences, retrieval pipelines, and agentive workflows.

The role requires deep knowledge of Generative AI, LLMs, and cloud platforms, with a focus on measurable quality and scalable software delivery. Remote work options and ongoing learning perks are offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with production-grade AI or data-intensive systems.
• Excellent Python programming skills and strong cloud experience (Azure and AWS).
• Hands-on work with Generative AI, LLMs, retrieval augmentation, and tooling.
• Ability to design reusable patterns and collaborate with product teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve shared AI capabilities and engineering accelerators for multiple products.
• Design end-to-end AI systems including LLM experiences, retrieval pipelines, and agent workflows.
• Create specs, evals, and contracts to improve clarity, speed, and quality of delivery.
• Apply evaluation-driven development loops for quality, latency, cost, and reliability.
• Collaborate with product teams to identify cross-product opportunities and integration patterns.
• Contribute to AI-native engineering practices, testing, and intelligent agents.
• Apply standards for AI reliability, governance, and responsible production use.
