Job summary

Qualifications

  • Must include a Rhode Island School Psychologist certification issued by the Rhode Island Department of Education.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
  • Experience working with urban students is desirable.
  • Desire to work with middle school students and young adults.
  • Experience working with students with Autism and behavioral/social/emotional challenges.
  • Experience with diversity preferred.
  • Successful experience teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices.
  • Prepares case records on all referred students; submits and interprets required reports to parents, teachers, and team leaders.
  • Confers with teachers and parents on placement and educational needs; attends case conferences.
  • Provides counseling to students individually or in small groups as determined by the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Attends Special Education, 504 and RTI meetings with outside agencies as school district representative.
