Job summary

MetalBear is a remote-first, early-stage company building mirrord, a Kubernetes development platform that lets developers run code against a live cluster before deployment. We seek a Rust-focused engineer to create, adapt, and optimize cloud resources, collaborating with a small, world-class team on architecture and infrastructure.

You will engage directly with users, leverage AI to improve code quality, and contribute to a distributed system used by thousands of developers worldwide.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• At least 1 year of production-grade Rust.
• Based between UTC-5 and UTC+4.
• Strong systems-level thinking and an ability to debug complex, distributed environments.
• Comfort working async in a remote-first startup environment.
• Familiarity with cloud-native environments (Docker, containers, Kubernetes) beyond the basics.
• Familiarity with backend infrastructure tooling like datastores, message brokers, GitOps tools, etc.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute Rust code that creates, manages, reconfigures and adapts cloud resources.
• Use AI smartly to deliver high quality code, faster.
• Collaborate closely with our small, world-class engineering team on architecture, new feature design and infrastructure.
• Engage directly with users to gather requirements, develop solutions, and debug issues.
