Job summary

HiQo Solutions is seeking a motivated RF and Antenna Engineer in Kraków or remotely in Poland to design, test, and tune RF components across client projects. You will combine EM simulation, measurements, and practical engineering to deliver workable antennas and RF solutions.

You will work at the intersection of electromagnetism, PCB design, and mechanical integration, collaborating with hardware and firmware teams and communicating findings and required changes to clients.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of RF and antenna fundamentals.
• Good understanding of electromagnetic waves and propagation.
• Good knowledge of analog and high-speed digital electronics.
• Solid experience with transmission lines, impedance matching, and confident use of the Smith chart.
• Hands-on experience with full 3D EM simulation tools (HFSS, CST, openEMS, EMerge).
• Practical experience with a VNA and a spectrum analyzer.
• Good communication skills and English (B2+).

Responsibilities

• Review, troubleshoot, and improve RF-related projects.
• Design transmission lines, matching networks, and filters.
• Build prototypes and test fixtures; prepare samples for measurement.
• Measure S-parameters, impedance, power, harmonics, spurious emissions, and bandwidth with VNA and spectrum analyzer.
• Tune antennas with discrete matching networks on bare PCBs and inside enclosures.
• Model antennas and RF structures in EM solvers; run parametric sweeps and optimization.
• Probe boards with near-field probes to locate EMC sources and propose fixes.
• Run or assist on conducted and radiated pre-compliance sweeps and assess certification pass risk.
• Write measurement reports, review findings, and recommendations.
• Contribute to internal measurement methods, fixtures, and test templates.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and skilled RF / Antenna Engineer to work on a wide range of client projects: design reviews, antenna development and integration, tuning, transmission line and filter work, near-field and EMC debugging, and pre-compliance measurements. The hardware is never the same twice, and the answer usually comes from combining simulation, measurement, and good engineering judgment.

You will work at the intersection of electromagnetism, PCB design, and mechanical integration - turning requirements into antennas and RF solutions that actually work in the finished product, and telling the client clearly what to change when they don't.

LOCATION:

POLAND - Flexibility to work either from our Krakow/ Wroclaw offices or from a home office – the choice is up to you!

SENIORITY LEVEL:

We are open to hiring across different seniority levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Working on RF-related projects requiring review, troubleshooting, and improvements
• Designing transmission lines, matching networks, and filters
• Building prototypes and test fixtures; preparing samples for measurement
• Measuring on a VNA and spectrum analyzer: S-parameters, impedance, power, harmonics, spurious emissions, and occupied bandwidth
• Tuning antennas with discrete matching networks on bare PCBs and inside enclosures
• Designing and modeling antennas and RF structures in EM solvers, running parametric sweeps and optimization
• Probing boards with near-field probes to localize EMC interference sources and propose concrete fixes
• Running, assisting, or consulting on conducted and radiated pre-compliance sweeps and assessing certification pass risk
• Writing measurement reports, review findings, and recommendations
• Contributing to internal measurement methods, fixtures, test setups, and report templates

REQUIREMENTS

• Solid knowledge of RF and antenna fundamentals
• Good understanding of electromagnetic waves and propagation
• Good knowledge of analog and high-speed digital electronics
• Solid experience with transmission lines, impedance matching, and confident use of the Smith chart
• Hands-on experience with any full-3D EM simulation tool (HFSS, CST, openEMS, EMerge, or similar)
• Practical and wide experience with a VNA and a spectrum analyzer
• Good communication skills and B2+ level of English (daily communication with the team and clients)

NICE TO HAVE:

• Experience with full FCC / ETSI certification campaigns and accredited test labs
• Experience with radiated measurements on bench or semi-anechoic/anechoic setups
• Experience with EMC troubleshooting and debugging with near-field probes
• Experience with PCB CAD tools (Altium, KiCad, or similar)
• Knowledge of PCB materials and manufacturing tolerances (FR4 vs Rogers, over-etch, Dk spread)
• Understanding of PCB stack-up choices, RF grounding, vias, discontinuities, and component placement
• Programming and scripting skills (Python, MATLAB, C)
• Good communication and teamwork with hardware and firmware engineers
