Job summary

Hitachi Energy Kraków Research Center is seeking a Research Scientist with strong software architecture expertise for industrial systems. You will shape next-generation software solutions enabling digital transformation of power systems, translating advanced concepts into scalable, production-ready architectures for mission-critical energy applications.

You will join a multidisciplinary team and engage in global collaboration to drive innovation end-to-end—from early research to architecture

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Experience architecting, designing and developing software-intensive industrial products.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, C#, Java, Rust, or Shell with strong software architecture knowledge.
• Fluency in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a global team of researchers and engineers to solve software-related challenges in power systems.
• Lead research projects for next-generation products and systems for grid management and automation.
• Contribute from ideas to proof-of-concept software and architect-level discussions.
• Create software solutions across technology stacks with multidisciplinary teams.
• Document technical solution concepts and validate approaches.
• Build networks within Hitachi Energy and share knowledge across the organization.
• Collaborate with universities, open-source communities, startups, and vendors.
• Disseminate results through publications, patents, and technical reports.
