Job summary

Focus, a fully remote digital services firm, seeks a Staff Platform Engineer to design, evolve, and govern internal enterprise platforms enabling fast, reliable delivery across multi-vendor systems supporting tens of millions of students and borrowers.

You will drive observability, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and compliance automation in a FedRAMP environment, coordinating with government stakeholders and vendor teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of full-stack experience with TypeScript and Python.
• CI/CD pipelines design and Terraform experience.
• Experience with multi-vendor systems and external APIs.
• Federal government digital service or civic tech background.
• Familiarity with AWS GovCloud and FedRAMP.
• Strong cross-functional agile team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain end-to-end automated UI and API test suites with Playwright and TypeScript.
• Design and build automated data generation tools and synthetic profiles via Python and REST APIs.
• Develop front-end tools in React and TypeScript for external vendor teams and government stakeholders.
• Construct and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support quality gates and feature-driven promotions.
• Provide feedback through code reviews and mentorship to raise code quality.
