Herring Bank is seeking an analytical, execution-focused Financial Accounting Staff Accountant II to join our Financial Accounting team. This role supports accounting, financial reporting, and audit functions with accurate financial records.

Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, you will handle recurring close activities, including accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and reconciliations, while identifying opportunities to improve and automate processes.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• CPA or CPA eligibility is a plus.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in banking/financial services or high-volume transactions is preferred.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and double-entry accounting.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Aufgaben

• Prepare and post recurring journal entries (accruals, prepaids, depreciation).
• Maintain fixed asset subledger, depreciation calculations, additions, disposals, tracking.
• Execute portions of monthly and quarterly close checklist.
• Prepare balance sheet substantiations and GL reconciliations.
• Research and resolve GL discrepancies and unusual activity.
• Reconcile bank-specific accounting schedules and related accounts.
• Assist with deferred fees and banking-specific transactions.
