Job summary

Focus is seeking a Senior Test Software Engineer to lead quality engineering and automation strategy for civic tech infrastructure. You will architect scalable automated test suites, build robust CI workflows, and collaborate with vendors in a complex environment to ensure quality and security compliance.

You will design end-to-end test frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript, generate synthetic data with Python, and guide release gates while aligning with FedRAMP standards and cloud tooling.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing full-stack applications with TypeScript and Python.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
• Experience designing complex systems that interact with multiple external services and APIs.
• Familiarity with federal government digital service projects or civic tech programs.

Responsibilities

• Establish software quality standards and test architecture guidelines across delivery streams.
• Architect, build, and maintain scalable end-to-end (E2E) automated UI and API test suites using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Design and build automated data generation tools and synthetic applicant profiles using Python and REST APIs.
• Author and review technical specifications, test strategies, and quality risk assessments.
• Construct and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support quality gates and feature-driven promotions.
• Serve as a technical liaison to client leads and external vendor teams for smooth releases.
