Job summary

Sybilla Technologies designs, builds and operates robotic optical observatories, now seeking a Passive RF / Signal Processing Engineer to develop software for processing SDR and RF data from ground stations. You will cover the end-to-end signal processing pipeline, from ingesting raw IQ captures to Doppler compensation and event extraction.

Qualifications

• Experience in RF, SDR, telecoms, satellite communications or related signal processing systems.
• Strong DSP fundamentals: sampling theory, aliasing, FFT/STFT, filtering and synchronization.
• Hands-on RF/IQ data experience, including data formats and pipelines.
• Strong Python with NumPy/SciPy, reproducible scripts/notebooks/CLIs.
• Experience with Git, automated testing, debugging and modern software practices.
• Ability to study specs and literature, prototype and benchmark algorithms.
• Ability to communicate results via spectrograms, logs and concise docs.
• Good written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software pipelines for RF/IQ data from SDR-based satellite monitoring systems.
• Build tools for SDR data ingestion, validation, metadata handling and format conversion.
• Implement DSP algorithms: filtering, resampling, DC offset removal, Doppler compensation.
• Develop spectral analysis, channelization, and signal characterization solutions.
• Implement precise time synchronization using GPSDO and distributed sensors.
• Support satellite listening workflows: orbital data, pass prediction, Doppler correction and capture correlation.
• Analyze system performance: clock drift, timing accuracy, frequency offsets, impairments.
• Develop detection and localization methods (e.g., FDOA, TDOA).
• Prototype and evaluate new DSP/RF methods before production.
• Collaborate with software, RF, hardware and systems teams to deliver reliable capabilities.
