Job summary

ProtoGen, Inc. is seeking a Lead Power Systems Engineer to drive design development of energy projects, manage external engineering teams, and coordinate with clients in a remote role.

You will lead planning, modeling, and basis of design across microgrids, substations, and controls, with a PE license preferred. Responsibilities include guiding handoffs to third‑party firms, ensuring conformance to design intents, and staying current with industry trends while mentoring junior staff as the team

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a power systems-related field from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in good standing; Pennsylvania preferred.
• Strong background in power systems engineering and related design activities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including coordinating external teams.
• Comfortable and efficient working remotely.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, modeling, feasibility, and design development activities for client energy projects.
• Prepare basis of design documents, cost budgets, and conceptual designs from idea to executable design.
• Plan and design microgrid systems with renewable generation, energy storage, and backup power.
• Perform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protection) in grid-connected and islanded modes.
• Direct the handoff of designs to third‑party firms and review external deliverables for conformance.
